Rummikub is a popular tile-based game that combines elements of rummy and mahjong. It is played with a set of numbered tiles and can be enjoyed by two to four players. The objective of Rummikub is to be the first player to eliminate all the tiles from your rack by forming sets and runs.
Here's a general guide on how to play Rummikub:
Setup: Each player starts with a rack of 14 tiles randomly drawn from the pool. The remaining tiles are placed facedown to form the draw pile.
Gameplay: On your turn, you can do one of the following actions:
- Play tiles: Place sets (groups of tiles with the same number in different colors) and runs (consecutive numbers in the same color) from your rack onto the table.
- Manipulate existing sets: Add tiles to sets already on the table, rearrange tiles to form new sets, or split and merge existing sets.
- Draw tiles: If you can't play or choose not to play any tiles, you must draw one tile from the draw pile. If you can play that tile, you may do so on the same turn.
Joker Tiles: Rummikub includes two joker tiles, which can be used as substitutes for any other tile to complete a set or run. A joker can be retrieved from the table if you replace it with a tile that it represents. You must use the joker in a new set or run before your turn ends.
Winning: The game continues until a player successfully plays all their tiles, resulting in them being the winner of that round. The other players count the total value of the tiles left in their racks, and their scores are deducted from their total score. The game usually consists of multiple rounds, and the player with the lowest total score at the end wins the game.
