Winter is coming, and with it comes the return of winter motorcycle games. The racing genre is a great example of how games can be used as a creative tool in education or outreach programs. Winter Moto Racing, a game by Psyonix, is one such example. It’s an online racing game where players control stock-standard wintermotorcycles. As the name suggests, players are racing in icy environments; however, this isn’t your traditional frozen street race. In this snow racING game, you have to master both wet and snowy conditions using only your vehicle and its onboard equipment. To do so, you need to master three key skills: Braking, handling and acceleration. Get them right, and you can compete against other players anywhere anywhere in the world. Get them wrong – or even go out of bounds – and you’ll crash often and get locked out of races for a while! This game is not just for winter enthusiasts who like to race on fresh snow; it’s also perfect for fans of physics-based games that involve precision driving through challenging obstacle courses (think Dirt 3).
